Longford registered their first win in the Lidl Ladies Football National League Division 3 this season when they overcame the challenge of Offaly at Emmet Park, Killoe on Sunday.

Longford . . . 2-10    Offaly . . . 1-10

Longford showed a lot of character in bouncing back from the defeats against Louth and Kildare with Lauren McGuire and Clodagh Lohan scoring the crucial goals against Offaly. The teams were on level terms at the break, 1-5 to 1-5.

The home side boast real quality, with proven match winners among the squad, but a stuttering start to this year's league made the points on offer in this game very significant. Sunday's win means manager Alan Mullen's side leap from the base of the Division 3 table in what could prove a vital victory.

Offaly and Sligo occupy the basement spots. Next weekend Longford get a break but resume action on Sunday, February 19 when they travel to play Down.
