The cast of 'Derry Girls' as Mostrim GAA Goes to Hollywood
There is huge excitement in Edgeworthstown ahead of this weekend as the “Mostrim GAA Goes To Hollywood” extravaganza takes place in The Longford Arms Hotel this Saturday night.
Over the past number of months almost 100 club members and friends have been busy rehearsing and filming for the event which will culminate on Saturday with the first showing of seven professionally produced movies.
In association with Lip Sync Battles Ireland the movies include the hilarious “Derry Girls”, the psychological drama “One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest”, family favourite “Sister Act”, the award winning “The Banshees of Inisherin” and many others.
This is the biggest fundraising effort the Club has ever undertaken and the entire community has got behind the venture with several mini fundraisers such as duck racing, hot waxing and Bingo Lingo to name just a few.
Club chairman, Paddy Cullen, has been overwhelmed by the goodwill shown to the Club and hopes that the money raised will help to develop the facilities at C&D Hugh Devine Park so that the footballers, hurlers, ladies footballers and G4M&Os that avail of the facilities can thrive into the future.
As well as a quality cast and excellent movies there are several Golden Statue awards to be handed out and the task of choosing the winners will fall to sporting legend Liam Tierney, renowned author and poet Pauline Flood and Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council Turlough McGovern.
The glitz and glam will adorn the red carpet as Mostrim GAA takes to the big screen. While ticket sales have been brisk, you might still have time to grab one of the last few seats so don’t delay.
“Mostrim GAA Goes To Hollywood” takes place in The Longford Arms Hotel on Saturday night. at 8pm.
Tickets are priced at €25 and can be purchased online through the Mostrim GAA Facebook page, the Mostrim GAA Club App or by phone 087-9490038 or 087-2891726.
