A rural road that has recently experienced a number of road traffic collisions will be looked at by council engineers to determine if works can be carried out.

The notices of motions, submitted by Councillor Paul Ross called on the local authority to address roads issues in the Edgeworthstown area.

Cllr Ross said: “There were seven crashes in a 100 metre stretch in the course of three days. Longford County Council needs to install crash barriers on the stretch of road on the Lissard House entrance, Cartron Reagh, Edgeworthstown on the L-1089. This road also needs to be included on the winter gritted roads list.”

Seconded by Cllr Mick Cahill the motion received cross party support.
