Fionnuala Hanlon (née Murtagh), Farnagh Hill, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family, on Sunday, May 7, 2023 of Fionnuala Hanlon (nee Murtagh), Farnagh Hill, Longford town.
Predeceased by her mother Mai, father Thomas, sister Mary, brother Tom and by her beloved daughter Elaine. Fionnuala will be forever loved and deeply missed by her family, daughters Jennifer, Louise, Anne, Nuala, Maria and Emma, son Patrick, sister Carmel, her adored grandchildren, daughter-in-law Leah, sons-in-law Michael, Kevin, Jeremy and Kevin, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Tuesday, May 9 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, May 10 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery.

Frederick (Fred) Plant, Abbeyshrule, Co Longford


The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Thomond Lodge, Ballymahon, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 of Frederick (Fred) Plant, Abbeyshrule, Co Longford and formerly Barry, Kenagh.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Evelyn, his sister Kathleen and brother William. Fred will be sadly missed by his family, his beloved sisters Millie and Evelyn, nephew Ian, nieces Colleen and Ann, relatives, very close friends and his wide circle of friends. 'Resting where no shadows fall'.
Reposing in St George's Church, Kenagh, on Tuesday, May 9, from 6pm until 8pm, followed by prayers. Funeral service in St George's Church, Kenagh, this Wednesday afternoon, May 10 at 2pm, followed by interment in the adjoining churchyard. John Philip Macken, Northampton, England (formerly Ballinalee, Co Longford)


The death occurred on Sunday, April 16, 2023 of John Philip Macken, Northampton, England  and formerly of Ballinalee, Co Longford. Born on January 23, 1936. 
Husband of the late Margaret (Peggy) and partner of Mary. Father of Bernadette, Elizabeth, Shaun and Brendan. Father in law to David, Andy and Jane. Grandad to Eleanor, Daniel, Kieran and Rebecca. Brother to Betty, Margaret and the late Mary.
John will be received into The Cathedral of Our Lady and St Thomas, Northampton at 6pm on Wednesday, May 10. Funeral Service and Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 10am followed by internment in Kingsthorpe Cemetery, Northampton. The family invite mourners to join them at the café 1850 from 9:15am before the service.

Margaret Kosecki (née Smyth), Lisnamult, Roscommon Town, Roscommon / Carrigallen, Co Leitrim


The death occurred, peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Oakwood Nursing Home, Roscommon. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 of Margaret Kosecki (née Smyth) Lisnamult, Roscommon town and formerly of Carrigallen, Co Leitrim and London.
Beloved wife of the late John (Branislav) and much loved mother of the late J.J. She will be very sadly missed by her grandchildren Keziah (London) and John (Spain) great-granddaughter Nylah, sister Mary Fox (Cape Cod), nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Margaret rest in peace.
Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27) on Monday evening, May 8 from 6pm until 7pm. Removal from the Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, May 9 arriving to the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards at St Coman’s Cemetery. Margaret’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who cared for her over the last number of years especially her loyal doctors, Dr Wojciech and Dr Sweeney and also to everyone for their kindness and support at this time. Maura Stenson (née Ward), Dublin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim


The death occurred, peacefully in her 102nd year, in the tender loving care of the nurses and staff at St. Patrick’s Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, May 5, 2023 of Maura Stenson (née Ward), Dublin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, formerly Rosharry, Mohill.
Predeceased by her husband Jimmy, sisters Nancy (infant) and Kathleen (Lowe), brothers Sean and Michael (Mike Joe). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, son Gerard (Kilcloon, Meath), daughters Helen, (Ballisodare) Kathleen (Brighton) and Patricia (Terenure), daughter-in-law Jo, sons-in-law Gerry and Adam, grandchildren Barry, Claire, Conor, Neil, Tom, Gary, Ian and Kate, brother Seamus, sister-in-law Margaret, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she Rest in Peace.
Reposing at St Patrick’s Hospital Chapel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday evening, May 7 from 3.30pm until 6pm followed by removal to St Mary’s Church, Carrick-on-Shannon arriving at 7pm. James (Jim) Faulkner, Aughavas, Leitrim


The death occurred, at his home after a long illness bravely borne in the wonderful care of his grieving wife Mary (née Charles, Aughavas, Co Leitrim), on Wednesday, April 16, 2023 of James (Jim) Faulkner, (US Navy Ret.) of Brooklyn New York and latterly of St Augustine, Florida. Predeceased by his daughter; Eileen Forrest, his parents and siblings.
Deeply regretted by his three beloved grandkids, son-in-law, brother, sister, many nieces and nephews, extended family, colleagues, neighbours and friends in the Real Estate Business. May Jim Rest in Peace.
A memorial mass will be celebrated for Jim on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 9.00am (American Time) in R.C. Church of St Anastasia, A1A, St Augustine, Florida, 32080 and will be live streamed. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Long Island, New York.
