Pictured in action for Longford is Clodagh Lohan, who scored a couple of goals in the second half of the Leinster LGFA Intermediate Championship clash against Kildare
Despite producing a much improved performance in the second half, Longford found the going too tough against the stronger Kildare side in the Leinster Ladies Football Intermediate Championship Round 2 clash at the Hawkfield COE grounds in Newbridge on Sunday.
Kildare . . . 3-14 Longford . . . 2-5
Kildare had built up a commanding 1-9 to 0-1 lead at the break and while there was no way back for Longford they showed more attacking intent in the second half and their perseverance was rewarded with a couple of goals from Clodagh Lohan and points from Grace Shannon in clocking up a total of 2-4 on the changeover.
This result means that Alan Mullen’s side are now knocked out of the Leinster Championship as Kildare and Wexford advance to the semi-finals and Longford will have nothing but pride to play for in the remaining group stage fixture at home to Carlow on Sunday next.
