Foroige in Co Longford is continuing to reach new heights

Foróige in Co Longford is continuing to grow steadily thanks to the tireless efforts of the local volunteers and clubs across the county.

These volunteer-led clubs have been offering opportunities for youth development and support for young people aged from 10-12 for the Junior Groups and 13-18 for the Senior Groups.

Ten Teenagers from Granard Foróige club have recently graduated from the Foróige Leadership for Life Module 1 course. Over the space of 3 months the teens have identified the qualities they possess as leaders and how to enhance these qualities into the future.

Member Niamh reflecting with the club leader Ber Fagan on her experience said: "I didn't want it to end, it's been brilliant. I can really see how I've been using my leadership skills in school."

The club is enormously proud and excited to be sending two of the graduates to a week-long conference in NUI Maynooth this August as they complete module 2 of the leadership course.

Senior Youth Officer Alan Judge is keen to engage with any community or volunteer that would like to discuss being part of the existing clubs or showcase the opportunities available for the members and the volunteers alike by creating a new club in their area.

If you would like to learn how your support will make a difference or what you can gain from the experience, please check out www.foroige.ie, Contact Alan on alan.judge@foroige.ie or 086 0227986.
