The late Paddy Mulligan with the Sean Connolly Cup after Colmcille won the 2022 Longford senior football championship title
On Monday last, June 26, feelings of sadness and genuine regret were felt when the news became known that Paddy Mulligan of Bunlahy had passed to his eternal reward at Our Lady's Manor in Edgeworthstown where he had been a resident for the past few months.
Paddy was in his mid nineties and had been in good health up until recently.
As a young man Paddy was a talented footballer and he won three senior championship medals with Colmcille and no doubt he was delighted to see his club lift the Connolly Cup last year.
A man of great faith Paddy attended Mass most mornings in St Mary's and he was a kind decent and obliging neighbour who will be sadly missed by all in the Bunlahy area and further afield.
His remains reposed in Smith's funeral home in Granard on Wednesday evening, June 28 and his funeral Mass was celebrated in St Mary's on Thursday morning after which he was laid to rest in Granardkille cemetery.
We offer sincere sympathy to his brothers Seamus in Coolcor, Sean in England, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
