Gaelscoil Longfoirt Lá Ilchultúrtha, Multicultural Day was an absolute triumph!

On Friday, June 16, the vibrant school community united to honour the diverse cultures that grace their halls.

The event showcased an enticing array of international flavours and captivating displays from Latvia, Slovakia, Germany, France, Lithuania, Nigeria, England, Australia, and Portugal.

Not to be outdone, our own Irish exhibit dazzled with a vibrant celebration of Traveller Culture, traditional herbs, folklore, and the renowned Guinness brown bread by Múinteoir Anne!

The talented pupils wowed us with captivating project displays, while the melodic voices of Rang a 3, 4, 5, and 6, guided by the exceptional Múinteoir Bridie, filled the air.

The sensational Denise McNamara also delighted us from start to finish with her fabulous singing.

We were treated to a spellbinding reading of Shelley Corcoran's newly published book, 'The Most Irish Person,' captivating children and parents alike.

The excitement continued with an electrifying boxing skills showcase by our very own Máirtín Mac Cnáimhín, who demonstrated a dazzling range of talents, nearly knocking out Múinteoir Pádraig!

And let's not forget the enchanting traditional Irish music by Mairéad and Martin Ó hAinle, alongside the talented Andy Duke. Our parents and friends made the day even more magical with their wonderful displays.

Wrapping up the festivities, the páistí indulged in delightful games, sang karaoke with Denise, and, most importantly, treated themselves to a well-deserved uachtar reoite for all!

Múinteoir Andrée Nic Aonghusa, the school principal extended heartfelt gratitude, go raibh míle maith agaibh, to our incredible parents, staff and of course the páistí, under the guidance of Múinteoir Pádraig, who supported this extraordinary day, especially those representing the diverse cultures of our school.

In recognition of her unwavering dedication over the years, the school presented Irene Horan of Slashers GAA with a token of appreciation.

Irene has tirelessly championed Gaelscoil Longfoirt and been a 'cara mór' to the school for many years. May Irene relish every moment of her well-earned retirement.
