Mullinalaghta have enjoyed a great record in the Leader Cup in the recent past and are through to yet another senior football league title decider following their 2-14 to 0-13 win over Clonguish in the semi-final at The Laurels on Sunday last.
St Columba’s, managed by Cavan native Ollie Fay, will meet Killoe Emmet Og in the Leader Cup Final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park this Sunday, throw-in 2pm.
Killoe beat Longford Slashers 2-15 to 1-11 in the other semi-final at Emmet Park last night (Tuesday) in the build up to the start of the senior championship at the end of July.
Former Longford manager Luke Dempsey is now in charge of Emmet Og who have also qualified to meet Mullinalaghta in the Division 1 league final for the Johnny Skelly Cup.
While both teams will be missing a few players on Sunday, the usual high intensity is expected in the tough battle for some more silverware and the clubs will clash again in the group stage of the 2023 championship.
Prediction: Mullinalaghta St Columba’s
