The County Longford Traveller Health Care Project has received €10,000 from Ireland Funds, the global philanthropic network

The Ireland Funds, the global philanthropic network, has awarded €10,000 to the County Longford Traveller Health Care Project through its Heart of the Community Fund.

The County Longford Traveller Health Care Project aims to build trust and relationships between Longford’s large Traveller population and healthcare services, as many health agencies report that their services and programmes have difficulties in reaching the Traveller community.

Yvonne Canning, Project Co-ordinator, Traveller Health Care Project Longford Community Resources CLG, said: “We know that the effects of The Ireland Funds support will enhance our efforts to support stakeholders in the county to engage and appropriately respond to the Traveller community who experience high levels of health inequities, and, as such, will work towards improving the health and social gain of the Traveller community in Longford.”
