After looking in big trouble in the first half when they ended up trailing by eight points (1-9 to 0-4) at the break, wind assisted Cashel produced a tremendous final quarter to snatch a deserved draw against Kenagh in the Intermediate Football Championship Group Stage Round 1 game at Leo Casey Park in Ballymahon on Sunday.
Cashel . . . 0-13 Kenagh . . . 1-10
Kenagh were restricted to just a solitary point in the second half, scored by Josh Kelly in the 45th minute, and were under serious pressure for the remainder of the match as determined Cashel gradually closed the gap.
Seven points in a row completed a great comeback, the last of which materialised in the fourth minute of stoppage time when a long range shot from Andrew Farrell was deflected over the bar by the Kenagh keeper Gary Kenny.
Cashel should probably have emerged victorious as they were guilty of shooting a total of six wides (including two frees) on the changeover and also had to overcome the handicap of losing their top player Andrew Farrell to a black card with 22 minutes gone in the first half.
