PICTURES | Talented Longford Comhaltas competitors sparkle at Leinster Fleadh in Grangegorman

Members of all three Comhaltas branches in County Longford, Joe Callaghan CCÉ, John Dungan CCÉ and Lios Breac-Longfoirt CCÉ, competed at Leinster Fleadh held in TU Grangegorman from July 7 - 9.

The Leinster Fleadh, or Fleadh Laighean, takes place annually, with competitors qualifying by competing in their county fleadhanna (of which there are twelve throughout the province). READ MORE BELOW PHOTO

Far more than a music competition however, the Fleadh also serves as a celebration of traditional Irish culture and heritage.
Longford County Board CCÉ are proud of each and every one of their members for representing their county to such a high standard.

As well as solo competitors, Longford had a Grupai Cheoil entry, four Ceili Band entries and seven dance teams. The standard was extremely high but Longford competitors came out top taking home thirty-three gold medals, sixteen silver and eight bronze medals.

All those who won 1st and 2nd place go on to represent their county and Leinster at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Mullingar.
