Two second half goals and a slick second half performance proved more than enough to get St Mary’s Granard 2023 championship journey off to the best possible start at a well attended Keenan Park in Ardagh on Saturday evening.

St Mary’s Granard . . . 3-14   Ballymahon . . . 0-9

The fourteen point winning margin was made all the more impressive given that the north Longford outfit went into battle without county star Darren Gallagher.

Charlie Martin fisted the first goal for Granard, who led by 1-5 to 0-5 at the break, but rampant St Mary’s  dominated the second half to pull away for a very easy victory over Ballymahon with Jamie Brady Hynes and substitute Paul Smyth scoring the other goals.
