Dromard recorded a comfortable five point victory over Mostrim on Friday night last at the Monaduff grounds in Drumlish.
Dromard . . . 0-16 Mostrim . . . 1-8
On the opening night of the Peter Hanley Motors Longford Senior Football Championship, the Group 1 favourites held the lead and overall looked very assured for the entire encounter on their way to a comprehensive victory.
In their first meeting since the 2021 quarter-final when Seamus Hannon stole victory from Dromard’s grasp with a last minute goal, Mostrim heroically went on to reach the decider whilst a decade has passed since Dromard went to the final day.
Dromard are now firmly seen as strong contenders for the Connolly Cup with a great mix of experience and exuberance. 2007 winners Cian Mimnagh and James Martin were held in reserve as well as former county player Paul McGee but they will undoubtedly be seen as the group stages go on.
Aaron Farrell and Francis McGee showcase the great mix in the Dromard frontline, accounting for half of their sides' scores, while Joseph Hagan is allowed plenty of time and space on the ball in the centre-half-back position.
