Roses get full tour of Longford

Longford is getting ready to welcome a fine bunch of young ladies. The Official 2023 Rose of Tralee Tour will visit County Longford on Monday, August 14.

Longford County Council will extend a warm welcome to the visiting Roses. Members of the public are invited to come out and see the Roses as they visit some of our most iconic attractions around the county on the day, and most of all, to wish our very own Longford Rose Grace Kemple well in her bid to become the 2023 Rose of Tralee.

Footage from the visit to Longford will be captured by RTE and shown during the live shows on the 21 and 22 August.

The Roses will be touring County Longford on a coach over the course of Monday, 14 August. They will start their day at Center Parcs, followed by a quick cycle on the Royal Canal Greenway near Abbeyshrule and lunch in the Rustic Inn.

The ladies will be travelling on to Longford to visit St Mel’s Cathedral at approximately 1.35pm where Fr McKiernan and members of Longford County Council will be on hand to greet them and provide a quick tour of the cathedral.

Knights & Conquests Heritage Centre in Granard is next on the list (approximately 3pm) which will be followed by a tea break in the Bailey Café adjacent to the centre. Then it’s on to Edgeworthstown to Midland Karting to finish off their busy schedule.

Welcoming the arrival of the 2023 Rose Tour in Longford, Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Colm Murray sent well wishes to Longford Rose Grace Kemple. “We are blessed with a wonderful ambassador in Grace Kemple, this year’s Longford Rose and we are delighted that she has a chance to show off Longford in all its glory as part of the Rose Tour. I wish her the very best of luck in the competition – we are already very proud of her achievements on behalf of Longford.”

Chief Executive Paddy Mahon said, “The Rose Tour is a fantastic opportunity for people who have not yet visited Longford to see all that our county has to offer. Longford County Council is delighted to be facilitating.”
