Round 2 of the Senior Football Championship produced a couple of surprise results last weekend with Granard unfortunate not to defeat Dromard in the draw at Emmet Park.

Clonguish failed to build on their fine win over Longford Slashers in the opening round in losing out to Mostrim at Leo Casey Park and the pressure is now on to determine the eventual four qualifiers from Group 1.

The meeting of Slashers and St Mary’s at McGee Park on Saturday evening (7pm) is a real crunch clash while Clonguish will be hard pressed to get back on track against Dromard at Lynch Park on Sunday evening (7pm).

Another very interesting fixture in Round 3 of the Connolly Cup is the repeat of last year’s final, Colmcille v Mullinalaghta, at the Monaduff grounds on Friday night (8pm).
