Kenagh attacker Shane Farrell, who scored three points in the win over Killashee in the IFC Round 4 clash
A strong final quarter eventually saw Kenagh overcome a gutsy Killashee side in the Intermediate Football Championship Round 4 clash at Páirc Chiarán in Newtowncashel on Friday night.
Kenagh . . . 0-12 St Brigid’s Killashee . . . 1-5
When St Brigid’s corner-forward Mark Rossiter slotted over the score of the match with a magnificent strike from a tight angle in the 45th minute to leave the sides all square, it looked like this contest would go down to the wire but four unanswered points during the remainder of the match guided Eugene McCormack’s charges to a crucial victory with Darren Carberry (free and play), Thomas McGann (free) and Shane Farrell on target.
The Killashee team were boosted by the return of Dylan Farrell after coming back from America and although he was rusty with some of his shooting, he put in a very good display to register 1-3.
George McDermott has been tremendous at full-back for Killashee and he gave another excellent performance while Kenagh corner-forward Josh Kelly also made a big impact.
However, it was Kenagh corner-back John Gill who was the star turn with numerous interceptions, brilliant reading of the game and his general all-round excellent display.
