Granard ensured their place in the quarter-finals of the Senior Football Championship with a 3 point win over Mostrim in the Group 1 clash at Lynch Park, Abbeylara on Saturday evening last.

The Edgeworthstown side now need at least a draw against Longford Slashers on Saturday evening to remain in the championship.

Ciaran Gallagher’s side will have to face that tough task without centre-half-back Shane Kiernan who received a straight red card in the closing stages of the game against Granard.

After failing to reach the knock-out stage last year, St. Mary’s will be delighted to return to the last 8 under their new manager Paul Lynch from Mullahoran.

Victory for Granard in their final round clash with Clonguish would ensure them top spot in Group 1 and the number 1 seed in the quarter-finals.
