Last year’s beaten finalists Clonguish are back in the Ladies Football Senior Championship title decider following their hard earned win over a spirited Killoe side at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday morning.
Clonguish . . . 1-10 Killoe . . . 0-7
The narrow margin of just two points (0-9 to 0-7) separated the sides in the closing stages of the semi-final clash before Clonguish engineered a well-worked move that ended up in a cracking goal from attacking wing back Ella Duggan in the 55th minute.
Duggan planted the ball in the roof of the net to clinch the victory after receiving the perfect pass from Megan Glennon.
Clonguish march on in their quest to capture the Alison Smyth Cup and the chance to gain revenge against the reigning champions Longford Slashers in a repeat of the 2022 county final.
Most impressive for the deserving winners, who shot several wides, was their inspirational defender Mairead Moore while a significant setback for Killoe was the big loss of the injured Anne Marie Bratten who was unable to feature in this entertaining encounter.
