A major business exhibition and networking event will take place in the Longford Arms Hotel on Wednesday, October 11.

Local Enterprise Office Longford, as part of Longford County Council, has announced details of the first major business exhibition and networking event to take place in County Longford in recent years.

‘Connecting Our Business Community’ features a star-studded line up of speakers, panellists, and offers networking opportunities for small business owners as well as the opportunity for them to link in with twelve large Longford businesses who will be exhibiting on the day.

Host Fran McNulty of RTE’s Prime Time programme will take attendees through a day of engagement and conversation between large and small local businesses, starting with opening speaker, renowned economist, writer, and journalist David McWilliams.

Following that, a lively and informative panel discussion will feature prominent business leaders, including Founder of Supermacs Pat McDonagh; Supply Chain Manager with Abbott Diagnostics Sarah Adams; Head Engineer with Kiernan Structural Steel John Kiernan, and Director of Services with Longford County Council Barbara Heslin.

Pre-booked appointments for small business owners to meet with exhibiting business leaders will then take place while a general networking session will be held over lunch.

Registration to attend is mandatory and Longford’s small business owners are urged to register to attend this free event as soon as possible, in order to secure their place.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to secure appointments to meet with exhibiting business leaders during the registration process.

Local businesses exhibiting on the day include: Abbott Diagnostics; Avery Dennison; Center Parcs Longford Forest; C&D Foods; Framespace; Glennon Brothers Timber Ltd; Kiernan Milling; Kiernan Structural Steel Ltd; Longford County Council; Mulleadys; Panelto and Technimark.

Coordinated by Local Enterprise Office Longford and funded by Enterprise Ireland, the event will run from 12 noon until 2.30pm.

Welcoming the gathering, Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Colm Murray said, “I understand that this is the first major business event in County Longford since the pandemic and I’m delighted to see things like this taking place again.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to recognise the dedicated and motivated business people that have helped to keep Longford thriving over these challenging last few years. I look forward to it showcasing the range and breadth of businesses operating in Longford.”

Chief Executive Paddy Mahon added, “This is a great opportunity for potential investors to see that Longford has a vibrant economy with plenty of business potential to offer and excellent business support in the form of our Local Enterprise Office team.”

Michael Nevin, Head of Enterprise in Longford County Council said, “This event provides a valuable opportunity for our business leaders, big and small, to meet and exchange information about the products and services produced and sold here in Longford.

"It will help create relationships between our larger employers and smaller companies, building awareness around opportunities for sub-supply and giving smaller businesses the opportunity to pitch directly to potential business partners. Not only that, importantly, it may help inform businesses on how they can improve their environmental sustainability by sourcing services closer to home instead of from outside of the region.”

Don't miss this opportunity to network and strengthen your business relationships, and to establish connections with sustainable local support services and supply chains within the Longford business community.
