Kenagh powered their way into their first Intermediate Football Championship final in 16 years with a blistering performance to blow away Fr Manning Gaels at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.
Kenagh . . . 3-14 Fr Manning Gaels . . . 0-9
In a display that brimmed with confidence and exuded authority they took complete control of the match after leading by a comfortable 10 points at the interval, 2-7 to 0-3.
This resounding result was sweet revenge for the so unlucky defeat against the Gaels in the 2022 semi-final when a late David Collum goal stole victory for the Drumlish/Ballinamuck side
A razor sharp attack fired Eugene McCormack’s side to a tremendous win with 5 of the 6 forwards contributing to the scoresheet and the star of the show was corner-forward Darren Carberry who clocked up the tremendous total of 2-6.
Kenagh heartbreakingly lost the 2007 decider to Mullinalaghta after a replay and they once again will meet stern opposition in Sean Connolly’s in the decider with the hope of winning the Intermediate title for the first time in 40 years.
