Backstage Theatre is set to stage a heart-warming story of friendship and fish particularly for young audiences.
Polar Bear & Penguin is a story by Paul Curley and John Currivan. It is a charming play for young audiences written and performed by the duo.
Polar Bear & Penguin tells the tale of an unlikely encounter between a Polar Bear and a Penguin. This is the story of polar opposite characters meeting for the first time, getting to know one another and learning how to survive in a world that is melting beneath their feet...paws...flippers.
Starring Paul Curley (THE DIG and Bake!) and John Currivan (The Bockety World of Henry & Bucket) this quirky and relevant play is specifically for young audiences.
Award-winning director Ian Cameron (White) joins the team along with designers Ger Clancy and Sarah Jane Shiels and composer Denis Clohessy.
The play encourages the young audience to make a deeper connection to the idea of unlikely friends who meet up and help each other out, despite being very different, as well as encouraging the children to become creators, inventors and storytellers themselves.
Polar Bear & Penguin is a tale of our time, infused with humour, friendship and fish. It was originally developed by Paul Curley and Draíocht with the support of The Arts Council YPCE Project Award & Meitheal CPS – A Branar Initiative.
It is presented with the support of an Arts Council Touring Award.
It takes place in Backstage Theatre, Longford on Tuesday October 24. It's aimed particularly at children ages 5 to 9 (3rd class) and lasts about 45 minutes.
