Longford Slashers pip Wolfe Tones for the U-20 hurling title

Despite two goals from Jack Belton in the space of five second half minutes giving Wolfe Tones a two-point lead that they held until the 55th minute, a superb finish from Longford Slashers yielded the U-20 Hurling Championship title at Michael Moran Park in Carrickedmond on Sunday.

Longford Slashers . . . 2-13  Wolfe Tones . . . 3-9  

The strong finish from Slashers in the final produced three unanswered points from Micheál Mulcahy (free), Harry Mulvihill and Sean Tiernan (free) to clinch a hard earned win in this tight contest.

LONGFORD SLASHERS: Daniel Gallagher, Daryl Horgan Swaris, Diarmuid Caslin, Diarmuid O’Donnell, Harry Mulvihill (0-1), Jack Horgan Swaris, Sean Tiernan (0-4, 2 frees), Darragh Caslin (1-0), Matthew Hawes (1-3), Micheál Mulcahy (0-5, 2 frees), Niall Hawes.
