The Abbeyshrule ‘Drive into the Night’ Christmas lights tractor run takes place this Sunday, December 10, departing at 5pm.

The starting point for all participating vehicles to register is Abbeyshrule Airfield, with registration starting at 3.30pm.

The fee is €20 per tractor and can be purchased on the day but remember it’s not limited to tractors, trucks and jeeps are all welcome. No spectators will be allowed in this area.

One of the organisers, John Maye, explained; “We are doing this for Longford based charity Cian’s Kennels who help bring pets closer to sick children and their families. The organisation was set up in March 2020 in memory of Cian Neary.”

John continued, “The run will finish up in Ballymahon and it is such an enjoyable experience every year. Myself and Robert McCormack have been running it for six years and the feedback we get is always good, it is a big run there were 150 tractors last year.

“For the drivers it brings them and their families together decorating the tractors and washing them and putting lights on them too.” More information on the ‘Drive into the Night’ Christmas lights tractor run can be found on Facebook or Instagram at Abbeyshrule Christmas lights tractor run.
