Longford-Westmeath IPSC and Mullingar 4 All raise €1067.52 for Medical Aid for Palestinians

Longford-Westmeath Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Mullingar 4 All launched an online  and in person fundraisers on December 5 and 17 with proceeds going to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), €1067.52  was raised for this cause .

 MAP is a Uk based charity ' working for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees', they currently have a team in Gaza who provide ' immediate  medical support to those injured by the IDF’s bombing campaign'.  Yesterday Longford-Westmeath IPSC and Mullingar 4 All held a musical fundraiser outside  Harbour Place Shopping Centre for this cause. Local musicians such as SuZen, John Staunton and Kathryn Nea, as well as local artist, Trea Ivory, who was selling Palestinians prints participated in this event.  The message the group was trying to convey was that people '' must do everything  they can to keep talking about the situation in Palestine''. This musical fundraiser raised €597.52 in donations from shoppers .

The group added the donations that they got from a Palestine protest in Athlone, that took place on the 16th of December outside the library. The online donations were also added, and in total Mullingar 4 All and Longford-Westmeath IPSC, raised €1067.52 for Medical Aid for Palestinians. 

Founder and Chairperson of Mullingar 4 All & Longford-Westmeath IPSC, Christine O’Mahony said: “We are overwhelmed by all the support, we did not expect to raise this much, but it shows that the people support Palestine and throughout the Christmas Period we will continue to speak up about Palestine, we would like to thank everyone for their support”
