A large crowd gathered in St Columba’s Church on Saturday, December 16 for the nuptials of two locals; Edel Mooney, daughter of Majella and Séamus, Leitrim and Paddy Fox, son of Nora and Pat Joe, Clooneen.

Both bride and groom are well-known and well-liked in the wider area and there was a large attendance of guests both from the immediate locality and from the wider county due to the social and sporting connections of both parties, with a large number of relations travelling from the United States and some from as far as Australia.

The wedding ceremony was celebrated by Fr Michael Bannon P.P. with assistance from Fr Simon Cadam, a neighbour of the groom and a native of the parish.

Edel’s sister Lisa was chief bridesmaid, ably assisted by Deirdre McElligott and Suzanne Mulligan, all elegantly dressed in black, with the other Simon Cadam as best man, assisted by Paddy’s brothers Tommy and Brendan and by Niall Woods.

The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion by Áine Dalton with instrumental music being provided by the D-Strings.

After the wedding ceremony had finished, the wedding party and guests travelled to Kilronan Castle in County Roscommon for the wedding reception where a very tasteful and sumptuous meal was served by the excellent and attentive staff.

Witty wedding speeches were provided by MC Niall Woods and best man Simon Cadam and a long night and early morning of celebration followed with music provided by Night Fever.

We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to the happy and popular couple and to wish them many years of happiness in their fine new home in Leitrim.
