Ballinagh mourns passing of successful business man and great GAA follower

The late Thomas Gaynor, Corstruce and Main Street, Ballinagh, Cavan

There was great sadness in the town on the passing of Thomas Gaynor, retired Victualler, Corstruce and Main Street, Ballinagh, Co Cavan, on Monday, December 4, 2023, peacefully, in the care of his loving family and the staff at Cavan General Hospital.

Thomas was well known far and near and you were guaranteed a laugh and a bit of craic while in his company.

He was a long standing and successful business man in Ballinagh town for many years.

Thomas was a huge supporter of Ballinagh GAA down the years.

Beloved husband of the late Clare, son of the late Mary and Michael Gaynor, Garrymore and loving brother of the late Pearse, Sean, Mary (Baby) Kathleen, Gretta, Ciss, Winnie, Laura, Bernadette and Isabella.

Devoted father of Caroline, Martin (Catherine) Michael (Noreen) and Rosemarie (Jim). Thomas will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by his family, grandchildren Anthony, Claire, Killian, Shauna, Darryl, Oisín, Thomas, Eugene, Conor, Megan, Queva and Cian, his great-grandchildren, his side kick Abi, Áine, Grace, Skylar Rose, Madison Kate, Ella, Mia, Charlie, Vinny, Alex, Jordan, Múireach, Líadan and Éinín, sister Sue McGovern, London, nieces, nephews, neighbours all his relatives and his many good friends.

Thomas reposed at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan, on Wednesday evening, December 6 from 5pm, concluding with prayers at 8pm.

Removal was from his home on Thursday morning, with a large cortege on foot, to St Felim's Church, Ballinagh, arriving for a Funeral Mass at 12 noon.

Burial took place after Mass in the family plot in the adjoining cemetery.
