Mercy Ballymahon Secondary School have established a proud sporting tradition down through the years and are in serious contention to win yet another provincial title.

Following their hard earned 1-7 to 1-5 win over Meath opponents St Ciaran’s, Kells in the recent North Leinster ‘C’ Final, their talented senior footballers are now just a step away from achieving a most notable success.

Mercy Ballymahon SS were in action against the south Leinster champions Colaiste Bhride, Carnew (Co Wicklow) in the provincial semi-final at the Laois venue, Heywood CS, this Tuesday on the astro turf pitch and emerged victorious by the comfortable margin of six points.

Providing the opposition in the overall Leinster Senior ‘C’ Championship decider will be the Dublin champions Gaelcholáiste Reachrann (Donaghmede) who scored a comprehensive 4-11 to 1-9 win over fellow Irish language school Coláiste Cois Life (Lucan) to reach this stage of the competition.

Coached by Rathcline footballer Shane Kenny along with Mr Nerney who are teachers in the south Longford school, Mercy Ballymahon will be hoping to be crowned Leinster champions with Cormac McGann (Kenagh) leading the charge in the attack.

Date, venue and throw-in time for the final to be confirmed.
