The leading lady is Ashling Farrell who will be playing the role of Elle Woods - our pretty-in-pink sorority president turned lawyer who shows everyone that being yourself never goes out of style!
No stranger to the stage, Aishling is a true triple-threat and we can think of no-one better to play this strong and beautiful character.
Legally Blonde is a 2007 musical. It's based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name.
The show tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner.
She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and she successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial.
Throughout the show, very few characters have faith in Elle, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.
St Mel’s Musical Society was revived over 40 years ago by a dynamic group of Longford natives who wanted to bring the arts to the community in an amateur capacity.
Since then they have grown in stature, have moved from the Temperance Hall, to Backstage Theatre and most recently to St Mel's college. They have won quite a few Association of Irish Musical Societies Awards (AIMS) over the years.
