Longford GAA are in mourning following the sudden death of former Clonguish and County football star Seamus Flynn.
Seamus will never be forgotten in the history of Longford GAA after playing on the team that won the National Football League in 1966 and the historic Leinster Senior Football Championship success in 1968.
Residing in Lanesboro with his family, classy defender Flynn was also honoured with his selection at right-corner-back on the Longford Team of the Millennium and won seven senior football championship medals with Clonguish.
RIP Seamus Flynn. A Longford legend who left a large legacy in Clonguish and Rathcline.

Seamus was the only Longford man to captain Leinster in the Railway Cup (1968) and was inducted into the Longford GAA ‘Hall of Fame’ in 2018. Rest in peace.

The recent death has occurred peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 of Seamus Flynn, The Green, Lanesboro, Co Longford.
Pre-deceased by his parents James and Molly and by his brother Brendan, Seamus will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, wife Mary Agnes, daughters Eithne and Sharon, sons Michael, Gerard, Andrew and Kevin, sisters Jeanette and Maura, brothers J.J., Gene and Liam, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends. May he rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Friday, February 16 from 5.00pm concluding with prayers at 8.00pm. Mass of The Resurrection on Saturday, February 17 at 12 noon in St. Mary’s Church Lanesboro. Interment afterwards in Clonbonny cemetery.
