Former Clonguish and Leitrim goalkeeper Martin McHugh will feature in ‘Let’s Talk About Cancer’, a much eagerly awaited event in The Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, on Saturday April 13 from 10am to 1.15pm.
It's an event where extraordinary people got diagnosed with cancer but through great support and sport they got over this disease with braveheart McHugh beating the cancer twice.
Aughnasheelin native Martin was a member of the famous Leitrim team that won the Connacht Senior Football Championship title in 1994 and also played in goals for Clonguish for 15 years before he eventually hung up his boots in 2022 at 52 years of age.
McHugh is one of the event organisers, along with six times cancer survivor Paul McLoone, and the guest speakers include former Meath All-Ireland winning manager Sean Boylan, Mary Cullen, Oisin Kiernan, Caroline Currid, Amelia McFarland, Rita Casey, Corrine Hasson, local GP Declan Loftus, former Leitrim Connacht championship winning manager John O’Mahony and Martin himself and who all have a story to tell.
Admission is €10 and there are prices galore on a morning of music and chat and the MC for the event is GAA commentator John Lynch.
Tickets available on the day of the event or call Linda: 087 9489193. Proceeds to NW Hospice plus Shout.
