Longford District Court: Defendant given opportunity to avoid conviction

A defendant was told he could avoid a criminal conviction if he has €1,000 for the court poor box when he returns before Judge Bernadette Owens in June.

Slawomir Kaczmarek (47) of 19 Moymews, Ballymahon, Longford was charged with possession of cannabis for sale of supply and simple possession of cannabis at The Vape Store, Ballymahon, Longford.
Sergeant Enda Daly told the court that on January 11 2022 officers carried a search under warrant at The Vape Store in Ballymahon under the misuse of drugs act.

Solicitor John Quinn said the defendant was hoping for leniency: “My client is on bended knees. He would appreciate an opportunity to make a court poor box donation to avoid a conviction. He gives an undertaking that noting like this will happen again.”

Mr Quinn told the judge his client now works as a full time plumber. Judge Owens said she would adjourn the matter to June 25 to give Mr Kaczmarek the chance to bring €1,000 to court.
