Mercy Ballymahon SS Longford student Mia Murtagh selected for Republic of Ireland Schools U-15 Girls soccer squad

Mercy Ballymahon Secondary School student Mia Muragh is part of the Republic of Ireland Schools U-15 Girls soccer squad who will travel to Newforge Sports Complex in Belfast this Sunday, March 3 to take on Northern Ireland in an U-15 Girls International Friendly (KO 1pm)

 The Schools select have enjoyed a few friendly matches against WNL Under 17 club teams recently, but this will be the first International test for the young scholars.

 Head Coach Richard Berkeley (Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh) has named twenty players for this clash as he looks to trim his squad to 18 for the Bob Docherty Cup at the end of the month.  

When the teams met twelve months ago, it ended in a one all draw in the AUL Complex, Dublin.  

It’s a massive occasion for the players involved and they’ll be looking to secure a spot in the final squad for the International tournament in Athlone.
