The voting process is now complete and the Longford GAA 2023 Teams of the Championship will be revealed in the print edition of this week’s Leader, on sale this Wednesday March 7.

The Leader readers have certainly played their part in the selection of the eventual players to be honoured with Longford All Stars Awards for 2023 with a record number of nominations received.

An exciting new addition is a separate Ladies Football Team of the Championship, the first of its kind in the country, while individual players of the year in the Droplink Longford LGFA senior, intermediate and junior county competitions last year will also feature in the expanded awards scheme in an exact replica of the mens template.

The Mens Senior, Intermediate and Junior Football Championships, the Ladies Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championship and the Senior Hurling Championship will all feature players of the year.

The final phase of the selection process will see three nominations in each of the categories - Mens Senior, Intermediate and Junior football, Ladies Senior, Intermediate and Junior football and Senior hurling - and the seven individual award winners will be announced at the Longford GAA Awards Presentation Dinner in the Arms Hotel on March 16.

The Team of the Championship event has become a very popular social occasion in the county. Run by Longford GAA in association with the Longford Leader, the main man behind the annual Longford GAA All Stars is Sean Connolly’s clubman, Senator Michael Carrigy, whose initiative has raised thousands for charity since the awards scheme was first introduced back in 2006.

Tickets €35

Tickets for the 2023 Longford GAA All Stars Awards Night in the Longford Arms Hotel on Saturday March 16 are on sale, priced at €35 each. For further information contact the event organiser, Senator Michael Carrigy, 087-2915072.
