Longford music fans are set to welcome home one of their own as acclaimed contemporary folk musicians Amble come to town.
Hailing from Longford (Ross McNerney – formerly Brave Giant), Leitrim, (Oisin McCaffrey) and Sligo, (Robbie Cunningham), Amble has gained a strong following since their debut release Mariner Boy. They have sold out all their Dublin headliner shows including The Workmans Cellar and The Sugar Club, and are currently embarking on their sold-out debut Irish Tour.
The contemporary folk musicians collided not only for their “mutual grá of music”, but with the aim to tell stories. The trio, who mix the old with the new, have been selling out shows months in advance. Their debut album, The Name, The Face and Body, was released in February 2024. The trio appeared with Patrick Kielty on The Late Late Show earlier this month when they performed Mariner Boy.
With a knack for storytelling, the Amble men all share their observations and stories, with a sound that combines both the old and the new.
Their tender vocals, soothing melodies and the distinctive twankle of the Irish bouzouki, listening to Amble encapsulates the feeling of warming up by the fireplace of your favourite pub.
Their debut EP, Amble (Live) introduced a new musing, trad-tinged trio of songwriters to the Irish music scene.
Titled Of Land and Sea, the EP sees the band expand their sound to an eve r-more global audience.
The high demand for tickets for Ross's hometown Backstage Thetre gig saw the band add an extra show for next Wednesday, April 3 as well as Thursday April 4.
