Weekend of ceol agus craic as County Longford Fleadh returns to Granard

The County Longford Fleadh will make its long awaited return back to Granard this weekend running from Friday to Sunday, April 5 - 7. It will be organised by the local John Dungan Comhaltas Branch.

The official launch of the County Longford Fleadh will be kindly hosted by Granard Library on Friday, April 5 with all the competitions being kindly hosted by Cnoc Mhuire Secondary School.

Competitions will start on Friday at 4pm with Comhrá Gaeilge, Scéalíocht and Storytelling. The official launch is at 7.30pm in Granard Library and all are welcome to attend. This will be followed by a Seisiún Ceoil at 9pm in John V’s Public House.

Saturday sees the Junior Competitions for U6, U8 and U10 get underway from 9.30am for all instruments and singing. Senior Competitions start at 12 noon for Céilí Bands, Grúpaí Cheoil, Set Dancing and Céilí Dancing and Sean Nós Dancing along with Duet and Trio competitions.

There is Junior Session in Granard Library at 5pm on Saturday, followed by Teenage Seisiún Ceoil in Fay’s Public House at 9pm and Seisiún Ceoil in John V’s at 9pm. 

The final day of the County Fleadh, Sunday  begins with Fleadh Mass in St Mary’s Church at 11.30am.

The Main Competitions for all solo instrument and singing competitions starts from 1pm in Cnoc Mhuire Secondary School (doors open from 12.30pm). There is a Singing & Storytelling Seisiún at 7pm in John V’s and a Seisiún Ceoil in Fay’s.

The John Dungan CCÉ would like to thank the local community and volunteers for their support and generous donations towards helping the running of the Fleadh in Granard. 

Everyone is very welcome to come along to enjoy the ceol agus craic.
