Chairperson of Clondra Cemetery Committee, Patricia Carrig-Brady opened the meeting welcoming the good turnout from the village community, elected representatives, Longford County Council Heritage Officer Mairead Ni Chonghaile as well as one of the professional contractors on the project, and members of the clergy.

There was a detailed presentation given, and handout made available. It covered repairs to date, funding allocations for 2023, proposals for work and funding for 2024.

There was a contribution from the contractor Greg Smith with a question and answer session following and individual comments of support from elected representatives, and the attendees.

The committee would like to thank the community for their ongoing interest, encouragement and support as well as their adherence to the health and safety requirements and any ongoing restrictions due to the conservation work.

The success to date of the work is due significantly to the excellent professional work of Fergal McNamara Conservation Professional, Greg Smith Conservation Contractor, Eoin Halpin Archaeological Consultant and Longford County Council Heritage Officer Máiréad Ní Chonghaile and Longford County Council Acting Heritage Officer Martina Needham.

Thanks again to the elected representatives; Joe Flaherty TD; Senator Micheál Carrigy (who sent his apologies in advance), Longford County Councillors Peggy Nolan, Martin Monaghan, Gerry Hagan, Seamus Butler and Uruemu Adejinmi; and Fr Turlough Baxter and Fr Sean Casey.

Thanks to Peggy Baxter and Bernie Cox for having the hall ready and making teas for everyone in attendance. Should anyone want more information please contact the committee or reach out at ClondraCem90@gmail.com
