Teen driver airlifted to hospital following two-vehicle collision in Cavan

The teenager was rushed to Galway University hospital with injuries described as 'serious'

A teenage driver was airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle collision in co. Cavan yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the two-vehicle collision on the R202 at Derrbeg near Swanlinbar, Co. Cavan, shortly after 3:15 pm on Monday.

The driver, a female in her late teens, was airlifted to Galway University Hospital - some 130 kilometres away - for treatment.

Her injuries are understood to be serious.

Gardaí have said that the occupants of the second car did not require immediate medical treatment.
