Connolly Barracks will once again provide the backdrop to a spectacle which has become a quintessential family favourite, as the Longford Vintage Club Show and family fun day takes place this Sunday.
From timelessly untarnished cars, tractors and commercial vehicles to a multitude of entertainment and other festivities, Longford’s Connolly Barracks will have it all.
Last year, thousands flocked to the barracks, and organisers anticipate that this year the show will prove as popular as ever with free kids entertainment, vendors and food stalls, and some star-studded entertainment.
Philip Stewart, better known as Farmer Phil, will be in joining the show once again. The popular Longford-based youtuber boasts over 85 thousand followers on his account, in which he shows his daily life working on his busy farm.
Longford Vintage club secretary Miceal Nolan said the return of the big web presence is very welcomed. "We try and keep it local, and Phil is a member of the club and lives close by, so it's great to have him back," said Miceal.
Farmer Phil will be hoping to have a new tractor that he is currently restoring in his videos ready for the big day. He will also be selling his popular merchandise, and according to Miceal will be free "for plenty of autographs and videos!"
Alongside Farmer Phil, popular Irish country singer and musician David O'Connor will be supplying some classic hits for those in attendance in Connolly Barracks.
The musician has thousands of followers, has played in packed shows across the country, and played alongside the likes of Shawn Cuddy, Patrick Feeney and more.
The singer also has Longford connections, boasting to have two Longford guitar players supporting him.
Miceal Nolan is excited for the country tunes, saying that David O'Connor "plays country, he plays western, and he plays a bit of everything".
"He will get the crowds moving for sure!" added Miceal.
Prices on the day are €10 for adults, with children under 12 going free. Payments can be made by cash or card.
Enquiries can be made to the club by phone at 0871167630, or on the Longford Vintage Club Facebook page.
