A Longford man has been given one more month to finish clearing rubbish from his yard in a severe dumping case before Longford District Court.
Jason McDonnell (34), of 71 Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford, was previously given a final chance to remove all waste from his property, in a dumping case that was first brought before the courts three years ago.
Mr McDonnell reappeared before Judge Owens at a recent sitting of Longford District Court, where it was heard he had not quite cleaned up his property, but was in the process of doing so.
“There is a skip out the front of his property that appears to contain a lot of the stuff that was at the front of the property,” said Frank Gearty, representing Longford County Council.
“It is late, but better late than never,” he added.
“I had a note that I wasn't making any decision until May 17 and that I expected all of the waste to be cleared by then,” said Judge Owens.
Solicitor for the defence, John Quinn, told the court that his client is “two thirds of the way there”, and Mr McDonnell was given until June 21 to finish the clear-up.
