Jamie Duffy plays Backstage Theatre on Saturday, June 8 at 8pm. Tickets €15 on www.backstage.ie.
“Internet sensation” is an oft abused cliché that aims to impart the immediacy that musical artists can gain from the world wide web.
Originating from pastoral Glasslough in Monaghan Jamie Duffy's roots are as far removed from the image conjured by the information superhighway.
The 22-year-old musician and composer has used his verdant surroundings as part of his identity as he shaped himself as a prominent figure in the music sphere, seamlessly blending traditional, popular, and classical influences to craft a distinctive musical style.
Jamie blends those diverse influences into a music that is beautiful, evocative and unique. His debut single is a piano piece titled “Solas” which means ‘light’ in Irish, and was composed at the end of 2021 in Belfast and recorded live in the iconic Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin.
