North Longford man fondly remembered as one of nature's great gentlemen

The late Paddy Macken, Rincoolagh, Granard, Longford

It is with sadness and regret we record the death of Paddy Macken, Rincoolagh, Granard which occurred at his home on Monday, May 27 last.

Paddy was one of nature's great gentlemen, whose door was always open to everyone and especially to the An Post workers who serviced the area and indeed Paddy would be a little annoyed if you went past and didn't call for the cup of tea.

Paddy loved to chat and he looked forward to this time of year as he would have plenty of callers as they made their way to the Bog.

Paddy will be dearly missed by his many friends but more so by his sister Phyllis and his many nephews and nieces and extended family to who we offer sincere sympathy at this sad time.

His remains reposed in the family home on Tuesday evening, May 28 and large crowds called to say a fond farewell to a much loved gentleman and to offer sympathy to his sister and family and he was laid to rest in Granardkille cemetery following Mass 12 noon on Wednesday, May 29 in St Mary's Church. May he rest in peace.
