Money will help organisations across play a greater role in welcoming and integrating migrants and refugees

Two Longford community projects are set to receive funding under the Communities Integration Fund 2024.

The Longford Africans Network and Lus na Gréine Family Resource, Granard have been each allocated €5,000.

Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman announced the funding today (Thursday, July 18).

Through the Fund, a total of €509,791 will be made available to support local 113 community-based organisations across Ireland to play a greater role in welcoming and integrating migrants and refugees.

€5,000 - Longford Africans Network - Seminal Workshop on emerging findings from recent research on entrepreneurship within new communities that may have implications for immigrant entrepreneurship policies and practices.

€5,000 - Lus na Gréine Family Resource, Granard - Culinary Connections: Nourishing New Beginnings

The Communities Integration Fund has been in place since 2017 and arises from Action 51 of the Migrant Integration Strategy, which calls for funding to be made available to local communities throughout Ireland to promote the integration of migrants and refugees.

Since its inception, the Communities Integration Fund has now supported over 930 projects, with grant funding totalling €4.32 million.
