Longford planners refuse to grant permission for completion of housing development
A planning application seeking permission from Longford local authority planners to complete a south Longford housing development has been refused.
In 2019 Longford County Council granted permission for the completion of a housing development at Drimanure in Abbeyshrule. The original permission dates back to 2004.
The latest application by Peter Byrne was for the completion of the housing development previously granted which consisted of the construction of 26 detached two storey.

The applicant had reduced the number with the omission of one two-storey house. The application covered the formation of access road and access onto public road, connection to adjoining utility services, site drainage, proposed foul effluent pumping station and rising main, landscaping, boundary walls and fences, cutting and filling works and ancillary works.

The proposed works consisted of permission to finish all external works, utilities and services previously granted under and permission to construct six two-storey houses which are currently at structural slab level and permission to construct five two-storey houses of which have not been started and ancillary works.
In reaching their decision the local authority planners said that reasons for refusal was that the EOD application “is not in accordance with Section 42 1 (C) and (i) of the Planning, and Development Act 2000 and cannot be permitted”.
