Friday, August 30, marked Ms Lyon’s last day as Acting Deputy Principal in Meán Scoil Mhuire, and also the day of her retirement
Friday, August 30 marked Ms Mairéad Lyons' last day as Acting Deputy Principal in Meán Scoil Mhuire, Longford and also the day of her retirement.
Ms Lyons has dedicated herself to working in our school for over twenty years. She taught Home Economics and held the roles of TY Coordinator, Deputy Principal and most recently Acting Principal.
As a small token of recognition of her unwavering dedication to the school, a mass was held in the school gym.

Celebrated by Fr McGrath, the school community, including members of the Board of Management, Mercy Sisters, colleagues and Sixth Year students attended what was an emotional and moving mass.
Gifts representing Ms Lyons’ life were brought to the altar, including a wooden spoon, a family picture, and a copy of the book “The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse”, which Ms Lyons loved to reference during school assemblies.

Everyone at Meán Scoil Mhuire, Longford wish Ms Lyons a happy and adventure filled retirement, full of family gatherings, travel and rest.
Monday, September 2, saw the new Principal, Ms Siobhán Cullen begin in her role as principal.
