Longford County Council has called on Bord na Móna to remove the trees overhanging the wall in Clonbony Graveyard that borders Bord na Móna property.

The motion was put forward last Thursday, 26 September by Longford County Councils Cathaoirleach, Cllr Mark Casey at a meeting of Ballymahon Municipal District.
A request was also made for Bord na Móna to cut the hedges running parallel to the Clonbonny (Cloonfour) road.

Speaking to the Longford Leader, Cllr Casey explained the situation.

“We’ve asked Bord na Móna a number of times to remove these trees or at least cut them to a sufficient height as to not encroach on the graveyard”

“There is a lot of trees leaning badly across the wall, it looks like some might fall and destroy it,” concluded Casey.
The council have contacted Bord na Móna regarding these problems but so far have received no response.
