Longford’s Backstage Drama Group stage their One Act autumn offering this weekend.
The will perform three short plays on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 with an evening showcasing the depth of local stage talent.
This year's selection starts off with 'Smile Handsome', written by Liz O’Hanlon and directed by Mary McLoughlin. The show stars Niamh Hanley, Aine Brady and Sarah O’Keeffe.
Smile Handsome is set in a women's prison. The piece is a juxtaposition of the outside world.

'Fred Astaire' was written by Kerryman Frank Houlihan and is directed by Christine O’Brien, starring Oisin Hourican, Dee Monahan and Michele Ciba.
The play is about identity; about love and the different kinds of love from two different perspectives.
Charlie’s mother and his wife both love him, but in their own different ways.

As Charlie tries to please them, to be a ‘Fred Astaire’, will he allow himself to be his own person.
The final play of the evening is 'Piseog' written by Laura Prendergast and Longford man Dan Sullivan.
Directed by Ollie Kenny it stars Laura Brennan, Deirdre Brennan, Killian Reid and Tom Lyons.

At their mother's wake three siblings are confronted with family secrets, while a mischievous stranger uses the opportunity to stir the pot of discontent.
Moody and unsettling, often hilarious, this is an innovative and engaging play.
This is an evening of entertainment you won't want to miss, tickets for the show are €12 and €15.
