Longford rugby club embarking on 24 hour rowing fundraiser for Lisa Brady

The fundraising campaign was set up to help Lisa Brady by the Longford Rugby Club after she was involved in a serious car accident earlier this year.

A fundraising campaign to assist Longford woman Lisa Brady (pictured) has been set up by Longford Rugby club.


The Longford RFC Facebook page is promoting a fundraising event that will take place at the end of this month.

The venture will see participants stage a 24 hour rowing marathon to represent travelling from four points of Ireland covering over 900km.


The static journey mimics travelling from Malin to Mizen and from Clifden to Dublin. Two rowing machines will be going non stop for 24 hours.


The organisers say: “Lisa, a well known and universally popular member of the Longford community, was involved in a serious road accident in August. Lisa sustained life changing injuries and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

“After spending over two months already in hospital, she is continuing her recovery and all funds raised from this challenge will go directly to her recovery fund.”


Lisa was involved in a serious car accident while taking part in a charity event, The Summit Classic Car Show and Charity Run, this event was held in aid of Parkinson's.

During the event Richard Mulholland, a father-of-three and rally driving enthusiast, was killed in the Fermanagh collision.

Lisa's passion and love for sports both as a player and coach has led her to work with all age groups in both Longford RFC and at Leinster level. She is also a very well known community support worker, helping local service users from both St Christopher's & The Muiriosa Foundation.

The event organisers are reaching out for anyone who can help with rowing on October 26 or 27 please get in touch. All donations will go to support Lisa in her recovery.
