It is part of a working farmyard complex and is not located within any designated village envelope as specified in Longford County Development Plan. The proposed site is not within any Natural Heritage Area, SAC, SPA or Broad Zones.
In the planners report it states “...in order to support and grow the tourism offer new and additional accommodation facilities will be required.
The subject site is located in close proximity to the Royal Canal and the Abbeyshrule Aerodrome, two tourism related facilities”.
The planning permission approval is subject to 14 conditions. Those conditions include that in the event that the tourism site becomes unused and the units redundant then the structures shall be permanently removed, drainage, roads, water and wastewater considerations.
