Longford home care company announces creation of seventy new jobs

Lorraine McLaughlin, General Manager at Home Instead Longford: 'There are opportunities available in rural and urban areas around county Longford'

Home Instead Longford is looking to add 70 new CAREGivers to its team, which delivers essential services to older people in local communities throughout County Longford.

The jobs announcement coincides with the pending winter months which with its shorter days and longer nights leads to an increase in illness and time spent alone among older adults.

“Social interaction and companionship are crucial to maintaining good mental health, and helping to prevent cognitive decline particularly in older people and working as a CAREGiver in your local community provides a much-valued lifeline to those older adults who need it,” says Lorraine McLaughlin, General Manager at Home Instead Longford.

Home Instead CAREGivers deliver a range of non-medical care services to older people, from companionship to specialised dementia and palliative care.

In addition to helping keep older people safe and well, such care services can also facilitate early hospital discharge, or they can help prevent hospitalisations in the first place.

CAREGivers receive 20 hours free training and receive dedicated office support. They can work to flexible schedules and hours to suit their lifestyles and are recognised and rewarded for their work.

“The work is local, the jobs are sustainable and there are opportunities available in rural and urban areas around the county,” Lorraine continues.

“We’re inviting applications from people with an interest in care to join us in helping older people age happily and remain in in their own homes, throughout this coming winter and beyond."
